Media Technology Center
Our Media Technology Center Library (MTC) continues to diversify and update the collection to meet the ever changing needs of the classroom teacher.
For the past three years, MTC Library has worked closely with the Early Childhood Department to create learning trunks focused solely on Early Childhood Studies. Last year MTC added two more trunks for a total of 10. Cabela’s Sporting Goods generously donated enough camping gear to furnish two trunks outfitted for young children. Their donations included a pup tent, two children’s sleeping bags and camp chairs. The trunks are very popular not only for experiencing camping, but life outdoors and exploring birds and insects.
MTC worked with the Curriculum department and the Henry Doorly Zoo to replicate a Penguin Trunk that the Zoo offers for teachers. MTC trunks are delivered and picked up from schools.
Team building resources such as Breakout EDU kits have also been added to the library to promote collaboration. Smaller kits include different types of Mini drones and Wonder Workshop robots.
The MTC library continues to be a popular destination for curriculum supervisors to bring new teachers for tours of the resources available for check out.
The Media Center is a natural repository to share resources among departments that want to reach teachers and curriculum staff. Our Media Center is open from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. We are also open from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturdays and will take e-mail and phone requests to assist staff with their needs.
